The Change

About The Book

What happens when humanity changes overnight?
The Change is a sweeping science-fiction story about an extraordinary event that transforms the course of human history. It begins with ordinary people living ordinary lives relationships, family tensions, careers, arguments, hopes, and fears until a catastrophic incident at the Bern cyclotron becomes connected to something far greater.
Soon, people begin to disappear, governments struggle to explain what has happened, and competing interpretations emerge. Scientists search for answers, while people of faith attempt to understand the event through their own beliefs. What the world eventually calls The Change becomes something far more profound than an unexplained anomaly: a dramatic leap in human evolution and the beginning of an unexpected new era.
But a transformed humanity does not mean that every old conflict disappears. As the world moves toward greater peace, curiosity, healing, and possibility, those who cling to power, fear, extremism, and rigid ideology resist the new order. The story ultimately reaches beyond Earth, exploring humanity’s future among the stars and the tensions that arise when old beliefs collide with an evolving species.
At its heart, The Change is a story about transformation personal, social, spiritual, and evolutionary. Through characters such as Chris, Keith, Holly, Francie, Jen, Ty, Katey, and others, Kurt Niece explores love, loss, friendship, faith, science, mortality, humor, and humanity’s capacity to become something more.
